IGP stresses full security for Katcha operations, development projects

LAHORE, Feb 21 (APP): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Saturday chaired a follow-up meeting on the ongoing Katcha operation, emphasizing that all development projects in the area will be provided full security under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The IG stressed that the government’s writ will be enforced in the Katcha areas at all costs, and extremist elements will not be allowed to regain a foothold. He highlighted plans to strengthen police infrastructure and operational strategy to establish sustainable peace.
Measures include procuring additional bulletproof vehicles, modern thermal imaging cameras, quadcopters, and other advanced equipment for police stations and check posts. A comprehensive plan for monitoring sensitive locations through Safe City cameras was also directed.
The meeting was attended by senior Punjab Police officers, including Additional IGs, DIGs, AIGs, and DPOs, with some participating via video link.
