IGP Sindh reviews plan for modern policing infrastructure in riverine areas

KARACHI, Mar 04 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Javed Alam Odho on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office Karachi to review plans for establishing modern police infrastructure and strengthening operational capabilities in the riverine (katcha) areas of the province.

The meeting also took a detailed overview of the overall performance of the ongoing operation “Nijat-e-Mehran” being conducted in the katcha belt by Sindh Police, said a news release.

DIGPs Larkana and Sukkur briefed participants on proposed police bases, check-posts, watchtowers and other installations planned for various riverine localities, outlining measures aimed at ensuring sustained security presence.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress of Operation Nijat-e-Mehran, the IGP Sindh said that following the successful operation, the Sindh government would initiate development works in the affected areas under a structured plan.

He emphasised that alongside the operation, the primary focus would remain on ensuring lasting peace and security in the katcha regions.

The IGP directed that locations for new police installations be proposed in view of regional requirements, effective access to local populations and other strategic considerations.

The meeting was attended in person by the Additional IGP Operations, DIGPs Headquarters, Establishment, T&T and IT, as well as AIGPs concerned, while DIGPs Larkana and Sukkur and district SSPs participated via video link.
