IGP Rizvi reviews security, policing performance in federal Capital

ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi chaired an important online meeting at the Central Police Office Islamabad to comprehensively review the overall security situation, crime prevention measures, traffic law enforcement, and the quality of public services being provided by Islamabad Police.
An official told APP on Tuesday that the meeting was attended by DIG Headquarters/Safe City Muhammad Haroon Joiya, DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, AIG Logistics Abdul Haq Umrani, AIG Operations/Investigations Syed Inayat Ali Shah, all Zonal SPs, and senior officers from Safe City Islamabad.
He said the IGP reviewed the performance of police divisions, discussed ongoing challenges, and examined future strategies to enhance operational efficiency and public service delivery.
IGP Rizvi issued clear directives to all officers, emphasizing that peace and order in the federal capital must be ensured at all costs. He directed the intensification of intelligence-based operations and strict legal action against criminal elements and ordered the implementation of modern checking systems at all city checkpoints for early detection of suspicious activities.
IG Rizvi instructed officers to conduct surprise visits to police service centers to evaluate service quality and ensure swift redressal of public complaints. The meeting also reviewed the ongoing campaign by Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) to enforce traffic rules and curb violations.
Addressing CTO Islamabad Hamza Humayun, IGP Rizvi stressed strict enforcement of traffic laws, particularly against serious violations, while ensuring that essential services, including the issuance of driving licences, are delivered efficiently to strengthen public trust in the police.
He further directed that all police stations and offices be equipped with modern technology and that the Special Initiatives Police Station model be implemented to provide timely, transparent, and citizen-friendly services.
The IGP Rizvi also underscored the importance of personnel welfare, timely resolution of service issues, and regular orderly room sessions. He urged senior officers to keep morale high and to work alongside their subordinates as a cohesive and motivated unit.
Concluding the meeting, IGP Rizvi said: “People-friendly policing, transparency, accountability, and the effective use of modern technology are the foundations of a safe and peaceful Islamabad. The police force is taking every possible measure to protect citizens’ lives and property.”
He called on all officers to dedicate their full energy to restoring public trust and to play their part in transforming Islamabad Police into a modern, service-oriented institution.
