LAHORE, Nov 29 (APP): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office Lahore to review traffic management targets here
on Saturday.
The IG directed strict enforcement of amended traffic laws, reforms, and modern systems,
emphasizing that DPOs, CTOs, and DTOs are responsible for achieving the targets within
the specified deadlines.
Dr Usman Anwar ordered indiscriminate and strict action against traffic violations, instructing SHOs and SDPOs to coordinate efforts to prevent accidents and maintain orderly traffic.
He also mandated the immediate removal of black (tinted) glasses from police vehicles and stressed that all government and private police vehicles and motorcycles must display registration plates. Violations by officers or personnel will result in departmental action.
The IG further directed intensified action against drug dealers and emphasized monitoring prosecution efforts to ensure convictions. The Special Branch will supervise performance in traffic management and drug eradication, with poor performance potentially leading to the demotion of District Traffic Officers.
Traffic accidents, law violations, progress in Dispute Resolution Committees, and response times on emergency helpline 15 will be regularly monitored. SDPOs were instructed to personally attend burglary and theft crime scenes, while strict accountability was emphasized for ensuring convictions in drug cases.
The meeting was attended by senior police officials, including Additional IG Investigation Shahzada Sultan, Additional IG Special Branch Rao Abdul Kareem, DIG IT, DIG Traffic, CTO Lahore/DIG PHP, SSP Traffic, AIG Operations, and AIG Admin & Security.
