LAHORE, Jun 26 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Karim on Friday congratulated the Punjab Police for ensuring exemplary security arrangements during the first ten days of Muharram-ul-Haram, saying the province remained peaceful with no untoward incident reported anywhere.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the IGP said Punjab Police provided comprehensive security for over 37,800 Majalis and more than 9,400 mourning processions across the province during the first ten days of Muharram-ul-Haram.
IGP Abdul Karim appreciated the performance of the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, all Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) for their effective supervision and professional leadership in maintaining law and order.
The IGP acknowledged the guidance and support extended by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, provincial ministers, advisers and elected representatives in ensuring effective security arrangements during Muharram.
He said the expansion of Safe Cities projects in various districts enabled real-time monitoring of mourning processions and religious gatherings, further strengthening security measures.
The IGP also praised the dedication of Special Branch, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Traffic Police and all operational units of Punjab Police for performing their duties with commitment and professionalism. He added that Punjab Police received valuable support from the Pakistan Army and Rangers in ensuring foolproof security for Muharram events.
He also thanked citizens, religious scholars from different schools of thought, government institutions and the media for their cooperation in maintaining peace and harmony.
He urged police officers and personnel to continue serving with the same dedication and commitment in safeguarding the lives and property of the people in the future as well.
