DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 12 (APP): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, on Thursday said that the families of police personnel martyred in the recent terrorist attack in Panyala would not be left alone and would be provided all facilities under the Shuhada package.
Talking to the media at Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines here, the IGP said his visit aimed to offer condolences to the bereaved families and express solidarity with them following the tragic incident that occurred a day earlier.
He said the police party had launched a search operation in the area based on credible intelligence when they encountered terrorists. “The police personnel demonstrated exceptional bravery and professionalism during the exchange of fire, killing four terrorists,” he added.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Syed Ashfaq Anwar and District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada were also present on the occasion.
The IGP said that police personnel face threats at all times, but the force remains committed and determined to confront every challenge with courage and sacrifice.
He informed that during the past year, bulletproof vehicles had been provided to police across the province and security arrangements were being further strengthened.
He added that modern technology was being utilized to effectively counter terrorism.
Zulfiqar Hameed said that all benefits under the Shuhada package were being extended to the heirs of the martyrs, adding that all security agencies were on the same page to ensure lasting peace in the province.
Referring to the government’s policy regarding illegal residents, he said that over 1.05 million Afghan nationals had so far been repatriated to Afghanistan and no illegal foreigner would be allowed to stay in Pakistan.
The IGP further said that construction work on 14 police stations was underway in Dera Ismail Khan, while upgradation and development of police infrastructure in merged districts was also being expedited.
He added that necessary equipment, including armored personnel carriers (APCs) and bulletproof vehicles, was being provided to districts according to operational requirements.
He stressed that sustainable peace could only be ensured through joint efforts of the police and the public, reiterating the firm resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism in all its forms.
