IGP disburses Rs 8m for martyrs’ families, awards laptops to 22 students

LAHORE, Oct 09 (APP):A ceremony was held at the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore on Thursday to provide financial assistance to the families of police martyrs for home construction and to distribute laptops among the children of police martyrs pursuing education.
According to a police spokesperson, cheques totaling Rs 8 million were distributed among the families of 16 police martyrs from Lahore and other districts, with each family receiving Rs. 500,000 in financial assistance for house construction. Additionally, 22 laptops were awarded to talented students, children of fallen officers, who are currently pursuing their education.
Addressing the gathering, Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar said that since 2017, the Punjab Police have provided Rs. 76.5 million to the families of 42 martyrs for house construction. Additionally, 737 families have been allotted residential plots, while 20 families have been provided apartments.
He further highlighted that 88 laptops have been distributed among martyrs’ children this year alone, bringing the total to 211 laptops over the last two and a half years.
The students receiving laptops hailed from multiple districts, including Rawalpindi (3), Gujrat (3), Sheikhupura (2), Sialkot (2), Gujranwala (2), Okara (2), PHP Gujranwala (2), one each from Lahore, Chakwal, Multan, Khanewal, Jhang, and D.G. Khan
Dr. Usman reiterated Punjab Police’s commitment to supporting the families of its martyrs not only through plot allotments but also by providing financial assistance to ensure home construction and access to quality education.
The ceremony was attended by senior police officials including Additional IG Welfare & Finance Imran Arshad, DIG SPU & Welfare Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin, and others.
