IGP announces expansion of police welfare hospitals

LAHORE, Jan 02 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar on Friday chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office to review matters relating to the health and medical treatment of the police force and approved significant enhancement of medical facilities during 2026.
During the meeting, the IGP directed that modern police welfare hospitals, equipped with advanced medical facilities on the pattern of the Care Well Police Welfare Hospital, Gujranwala, be established in all major cities of the province. He emphasised that, to ensure maximum accessibility, these welfare hospitals should be set up in densely populated areas.
The IGP said that the proposed Care Well Police Welfare Hospitals would provide modern and quality medical facilities free of cost to police officers and their families, as part of strengthened welfare initiatives for the force.
He highly appreciated the establishment of the Care Well (Police Welfare) Hospital in Gujranwala, which has been equipped with modern laboratories and medical facilities under the supervision of former CPO Gujranwala Rana Muhammad Ayaz Saleem. He said the hospital serves as a role model for other regions and districts in ensuring optimal health welfare for police personnel.
RPO Sahiwal Ayaz Saleem, while briefing the meeting, said that the Care Well Police Welfare Hospital Gujranwala is providing free modern medical treatment to police personnel and their families in 12 medical specialties. He added that the hospital offers diagnostic and treatment facilities with state-of-the-art equipment and services of renowned consultants, while medical services are also being extended to the general public at comparatively affordable rates.
He further said that treatment facilities are available in general surgery, gynaecology, cardiology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, dental care, orthopedics, general medicine, ENT, physiotherapy, psychology and radiology.
The meeting was attended by DIG Welfare and Finance Zeeshan Asghar, AIG Development Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, AIG Logistics Abdullah Lak, while all regional police officers participated through video link.
