LARKANA, Oct 30 (APP):The Sindh High Court Circuit Court Larkana’s division bench, while granting bail on Thursday to accused Imtiaz Ali Sahito arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act in an alleged abduction case, has raised serious questions about the police’s role.
The court has directed the IG Sindh and DG FIA Islamabad to conduct a detailed investigation into the case registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Hatri Ghulam Shah police station.
The division bench, comprising Justice Amjad Ali Sahito and Justice Ali Hyder udha, remarked that police officers overstepped their authority and illegally detained the accused for two months. Expressing displeasure, the court stated that such officers are not fit to hold their positions.
The court ordered the transfer of SSP Larkana Ahmed Faisal Chaudhry and other relevant officers until the investigation is completed, so they cannot influence the probe.
The court clearly directed that it should also be investigated whether SHO Shamshad Abro and other officers registered the case in collusion or connivance, as this case appears to be of a personal and political vindictive nature.
Petitioner Imtiaz Ali Sahito has been granted bail on the condition of submitting a personal bond of 10,000 rupees and a surety bond of 20,000 rupees.
The court has directed the IG Sindh and DG FIA to submit a progress report within 7 days and adjourned the hearing until November 12.
It is important to note that Imtiaz Ali Sahito was arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Hatri Ghulam Shah police station. However, the court said that the police’s role in the case warrants an investigation.
