ICT Police net 28 in 24 hours, seize illegal arms, drugs in crackdown

ISLAMABAD, Apr 16 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested 28 accused during the last 24 hours under ongoing campaigns against illegal weapons and narcotics in the federal capital.
An official told APP on Thursday that 18 accused involved in illegal possession of weapons were apprehended during the crackdown. He said police recovered eight rifles of different calibers, 10 pistols and one gun along with ammunition from their possession.
The official said during the same period, 10 drug peddlers were also arrested under the “Nasha Ab Nahi” campaign. He said police recovered over 3.76 kilograms of hashish, more than two kilograms of ice (crystal meth), one kilogram of heroin and 30 bottles of liquor from the accused.
DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq said that Islamabad Police had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against illegal weapons and their display. He said special police teams were continuing successful operations against drug dealers under the “Nasha Ab Nahi” campaign.
