ISLAMABAD, Jul 01 (APP):Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Muhammad Jawad Tariq and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan on Tuesday visited various routes of Muharram processions and Imam Bargahs across the federal capital to inspect security arrangements.
An official told APP that the senior officers reviewed the deployment of security personnel and directed all officers on duty to remain on high alert. They emphasized that all procession routes should be completely cordoned off, with adequate lighting and strict enforcement of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Muharram gatherings.
DIG Tariq said ICT Police is fully committed to ensuring foolproof security during the sacred month. He directed zonal SDPOs and SHOs to remain present in the field and coordinate closely to ensure peace and security.
DIG Tariq said special focus is being given to maintaining inter-sect harmony and promoting religious tolerance throughout the capital. Police officers have been instructed to implement the SOPs without any leniency and ensure uninterrupted security for both processions and Majalis.
DIG said the police will ensure that the peaceful environment of the capital remains intact in line with the vision of IG Ali Nasir Rizvi, while fostering religious harmony and tolerance during Muharram.
