ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police carried out 102 grand search and combing operations during the ongoing month in different areas of the federal capital to prevent crime and strengthen security.
A public relations officer told APP on Sunday that during the ongoing month, police teams checked 9,005 individuals, 3,487 houses and 1,205 shops across Islamabad.
He said that 155 motorcycles and 30 vehicles were also checked during the search operations. For further verification, 600 suspicious persons, including 57 Afghan nationals, were shifted to police stations.

The officer added that 13 vehicles and 256 motorcycles were also shifted to different police stations during the operations for detailed checking.
During the search operations conducted this month, ICT Police arrested 18 proclaimed offenders wanted in serious criminal cases. In addition, 65 suspects involved in drug peddling, illegal arms and other crimes were taken into custody.
Police recovered 627 grams of charas, 550 grams of heroin and 967 grams of ice from the arrested suspects. In cases related to illegal weapons, police seized seven Kalashnikovs, two rifles, eight shotguns, 12 pistols and 2,869 rounds of ammunition.
The spokesperson said the objective of these month-long search and combing operations is to curb criminal activity and ensure peace and security across the district.
He added that Inspector General of Police Islamabad has directed district-wide grand search operations to uproot crime from the federal capital.
The officer reiterated that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority of Islamabad Police.
