ICT Police bust two dacoit gangs; eight dacoits held behind bars

ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have continued their organized and effective crackdown against criminal elements, arresting eight dacoits belonging to two organized gangs involved in multiple incidents of motorcycle snatching and armed robbery in the federal capital.
A police spokesperson told APP on Sunday that the Khanna Police Station team carried out a successful operation and apprehended eight accused dacoits who were involved in several cases of street crime, robbery and motorcycle snatching.

The spokesperson said that police recovered three snatched motorcycles, valuable mobile phones worth millions of rupees, cash and weapons along with ammunition used in the crimes from the possession of the arrested dacoits.
He said that during initial investigation, the arrested dacoits confessed to committing multiple incidents of motorcycle snatching and looting citizens at gunpoint in different areas of Islamabad. The accused also revealed that they injured citizens during resistance while committing robberies.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said that all legal requirements would be fulfilled to ensure exemplary punishment for dacoits involved in depriving citizens of their hard-earned assets.
He said indiscriminate action would continue against organised and active dacoit gangs, adding that Islamabad Police are carrying out large-scale operations against criminal networks until the federal capital is made a cradle of peace.
DIG Tariq reiterated that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority of Islamabad Police.
