SUKKUR, Nov 27 (APP): The second season of the *Lok Satha Marathon (Hope Run) got a boost as international athlete Jamal Saeed arrived at the Sukkur Press Club after completing a 24-hour non-stop run from Hyderabad to Sukkur on Thursday.
DIG Pir Muhammad Shah, Chairman of Lok Satha, along with SSP Sukkur Azhar Mughal, district council officials, Sukkur Municipal Corporation representatives, various town chairmen and the Sukkur Press Club management gave him a rousing welcome, garlanding him with flower bouquets.
Jamal Saeed, a renowned global runner, said it had been his dream to run from Peshawar to Sukkur to promote the upcoming second edition of the Lok Satha Marathon (Hope Run). However, due to time constraints, he covered the Hyderabad to Sukkur stretch instead.
He said that his aim was to promote healthy activities in society, adding, “I want more and more youth to take part in marathons,”. He holds a world record for participating in the maximum number of marathons. He expressed the hope that Pakistani youth would also play their part in bringing glory to the country.
Chairman Lok Satha, Syed Pir Muhammad Shah, said Jamal Saeed is a national pride and an asset. “He is a role model for the youth. The Lok Satha Marathon aims to build a healthy society, highlight our culture, and bring global recognition to our country. We are proud that personalities like Jamal Saeed are part of Lok Satha and are inspiring the younger generation,” he added.
