LAHORE, Aug 07 (APP):An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday extended the physical remand of 9 accused involved in the playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar honey trap case for another ten days.
Earlier, the police had produced the accused – Tanveer Ahmad, Qaisar Abbas, Rasheed Ahmad, Falk Sher, Mian Khan, Yasir Ali, Javed Iqbal, Zeeshan Qayyum, and Mamon Haider – before ATC Judge Khalid Arshad at the expiry of their 7-day physical remand.
The police requested the court to extend the physical remand of the accused for another 30 days for the recovery of the ransom amount and weapons. At this, Khalilur Rehman’s counsel supported the stance of the police and asked the court to extend the physical remand for another 15 days to complete the investigations.
The court remarked that the police should complete the investigations, release those who were innocent, and provide evidence against those who were guilty.
Khalilur Rehman’s counsel submitted that all the accused were guilty and co-accused of the main accused, Amna Urooj, adding that innocent persons had already been cleared.
Subsequently, the court extended the physical remand for another ten days and ordered that the accused be produced at the expiry of the remand term.
The Sundar Police had registered a case of robbery and abduction against several accused based on a complaint by Khalilur Rehman Qamar.
