LAHORE, Dec 01 (APP): Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) Chairperson Hina Pervez Butt on Monday attended a seminar at the University of the Punjab organised by the Department of Gender Studies under the “16 Days of Activism” campaign and later inspected the Pink Mobile Police Station and Licensing Unit on campus.
Speaking at the seminar, she said women’s safety, empowerment and equality were global priorities and stressed that societies progressed when women were secure, confident and empowered. She added that awareness, training, positive social attitudes and easy access to justice were vital for building a strong society, noting that youth had a central role in driving change.
Hina Pervez Butt highlighted Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of ensuring modern facilities, rapid response mechanisms and efficient support services for women across the province. She said PWPA was working to establish a simple and dignified protection and support system through reforms, technology and outreach initiatives.
Later, during her visit to the Pink Police Van and Licensing Unit, officials briefed her on the services being provided at citizens’ doorstep, including learner permits, driving licences, FIR registration, loss and crime reports, women support services, character certificates, police verification, and employee, tenant and vehicle registration. She termed the Pink Police Van an exemplary initiative aimed at improving convenience and access to justice for women.
