Health Secretary orders emergency overhaul of public hospitals, integrates health card program

QUETTA, Nov 07 (APP): Balochistan Health Secretary Dawood Khan Khilji has called for immediate and accelerated reforms in the province’s healthcare sector, directing officials to operate on an emergency basis to improve public hospitals and health services.
His remarks came during a high-level meeting focused on integrating Reimbursement Medical Charges (RMC) for health department employees with the Balochistan Health Card Program (BHCP).
The meeting, attended by Special Secretary Health Shehak Baloch and senior officials, marked a pivotal step toward streamlining healthcare benefits and expanding access to quality medical services.
Secretary Dawood Khilji emphasized that merging RMC with the BHCP would lead to more efficient and transparent budget utilization, ultimately benefiting over 2.3 million families across Balochistan and more than 200,000 government employees.
He added that the integration would enhance accessibility and equity in healthcare delivery, ensuring that both public and government beneficiaries receive consistent and high-quality services.
Following the meeting, Secretary Dawood Khilji and Special Secretary Baloch conducted inspection visits to key health institutions
Dr. Farooq Hout and Dr. Arif Afridi briefed the delegation on current initiatives and system improvements.
Dr. Ababgar Baloch, Provincial Coordinator BHCMIS, showcased the Complaint Cell, explaining its mechanism for registering and resolving public grievances.
Secretary Dawood Khilji instructed officials to make the complaint resolution system more transparent, responsive, and accessible.
Bolan Medical College Hospital (BMCH) Medical Superintendent Dr. Asif Anwar Shahwani led a tour of critical departments including the Emergency Ward, Labor Room, ICU, and Burn Ward.
Secretary Khilji reviewed facilities and administrative operations, stressing that there can be no compromise on healthcare quality.
He directed improvements in cleanliness, discipline, and patient care standards to ensure better treatment outcomes.
Health Secretary Dawood Khilji reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to concrete and sustained improvements in public-sector hospitals. He emphasized that the health department must act swiftly and responsibly to meet the expectations of the people.
“The government is serious about uplifting the state of public hospitals. Every effort must be made to ensure quality healthcare reaches every citizen,” Health Secretary Dawood Khan Khilji concluded.
