KARACHI, Oct 21 (APP):The Sindh Health Department has released a report on confirmed dengue cases across the province, revealing that 276 new cases have been reported during the current month, bringing the total number of cases in 2025 to 920.
Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho stated that Karachi Division remains the most affected, where 124 cases were reported, followed by Hyderabad Division with 82 cases, Mirpurkhas with 58, Sukkur with 9, Shaheed Benazirabad 2 and one case in Larkana.
Expressing concern over the rising number of dengue cases, Dr Pechuho said that the Sindh government was taking comprehensive measures to curb the spread of the disease. Anti-dengue campaigns have been intensified across all divisions, including Karachi, where fumigation and spraying operations are being carried out on a daily basis.
She said the dedicated dengue treatment units have been established in all government hospitals, providing free testing and treatment facilities to patients.
Dr Pechuho appealed to the public to avoid stagnant water in courtyards, rooftops and flowerpots, use mosquito repellents and immediately visit nearby hospitals in case of fever.
Dr Azra emphasized that dengue is a preventable disease, and public cooperation is crucial to contain its spread. “If citizens ensure that water does not accumulate in or around their homes, this outbreak can be effectively controlled,” she said.
She added that Health Department teams are closely monitoring suspected and confirmed cases across all districts and are working jointly with the district administrations to take immediate preventive and remedial actions.
She assured that Sindh Govt’s dengue monitoring teams are actively working in the affected districts and reviewing the situation on daily basis.
Health Minister reaffirmed that the government was fully committed to safeguarding public health and is utilizing all available resources to eliminate dengue and other vector-borne diseases from the province.
