HYDERABAD, Sep 01 (APP):In view of the flood emergency in Sindh, the District Health Officer (DHO) Hyderabad, Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain, on Monday, chaired an important meeting to finalize a comprehensive health action plan for a timely and effective medical response.
According to a handout, the meeting was attended by Zonal In-charge Rescue 1122, Additional District Health Officers (ADHOs), Deputy District Health Officers (DDHOs) and focal persons of various health programs working under the District Health Office.
The DHO emphasized close coordination with all relevant departments, particularly Rescue 1122 and PPHI, to ensure integrated, prompt and equitable healthcare services in potential flood-affected areas.
It was decided that two major medical camps would be established in the potentially affected areas, while additional mobile medical units would be deployed in high-risk zones to ensure timely medical facilities.
DHO further informed that seven ambulances would be available for emergency patient transportation and referrals, while 10 doctors and 21 paramedical staff will be deployed at camps and ambulances to provide round-the-clock healthcare services.
He added that maternity and child health services, including antenatal care and safe delivery support, along with screening and treatment of TB, malaria, hepatitis and HIV as well as routine immunization and polio drops for children, would also be ensured to prevent outbreak risks among displaced populations.
The DHO said that disease surveillance in possible flood-affected areas would also be strengthened to ensure early detection and timely control of possible epidemics.
