LAHORE, Jul 26 (APP):Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt said on Friday that harassment of women at workplaces and homes would not be tolerated.
Speaking at a seminar organized by the National Commission of Women at a local hotel, here she urged women to report any injustice they face, assuring them of immediate action and full cooperation from the Punjab Police.
While representing Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Hina emphasized the importance of women standing up against domestic violence. She encouraged those suffering in silence to muster up courage to come forward. “Women resorting to suicide is the extreme consequence of the grave issue of blackmailing and harassment they face,” she said.
Hina Parvez Butt highlighted the disparity between ordinary women and women in politics, questioning whether common women receive the same respect as their political counterparts. In her first ten days as Chairperson of the Women Protection Authority, Butt toured fifteen districts. She expressed deep sorrow over the case of Sania Zahra, which required a second post-mortem and forensic analysis in Lahore. “My mission is to provide protection to women and rectify any form of injustice they encounter,” she maintained.
