“Hailey Research Week” concludes at Punjab University

LAHORE, Nov 07 (APP):The concluding ceremony of the “Hailey Research Week” was held at Hailey College of Commerce, University of the Punjab on Friday.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Chairman of the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) Farrukh Amil, Principal of Hailey College Dr. Hafiz Zafar Ahmad, representatives from the Chinese Embassy including Le Oting, faculty members, researchers, and a large number of students attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, IPO Chairman Farrukh Amil said that intellectual property is a fundamental pillar of sustainable economic development, enabling societies to meet the challenges of the 21st century. He emphasized that young graduates should choose entrepreneurship over employment and ensure their businesses are properly registered. Protecting intellectual property, he added, not only prevents counterfeiting but also enhances brand value and encourages innovation.
He further stated that safeguarding the rights of creators and innovators helps build an environment where ideas can flourish, paving the way for progress in sectors such as energy, health, education, and technology. Highlighting the growing importance of intellectual property protection in the digital era, Amil urged companies and entrepreneurs to promptly register their trademarks and logos.
Director General IPO Nauman Aslam said that IPO Pakistan is fully committed to protecting the rights of the creative community and ensuring their effective enforcement. He mentioned that the organization has introduced a new digital system allowing online submission of complaints, which will reduce unnecessary office visits, speed up processing, and keep complainants updated on their case progress.
Addressing the students, Punjab University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali urged them to actively participate in social service alongside their academic pursuits. He stressed, “No student should be awarded a degree without engaging in social work, as practical service helps develop social consciousness.”
Earlier, Principal of Hailey College of Commerce Dr. Hafiz Zafar Ahmad, in his welcome address, said that during “Hailey Research Week,” researchers from seven countries participated, six workshops were organized, and fifteen partner institutions took part in various academic activities.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of awards among students who excelled in research work.
