Green Electric Bus Service launched in Muzaffargarh

MUZAFFARGARH, Oct 16 (APP): On the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Green Electric Bus Service was inaugurated in Muzaffargarh to provide citizens with safe, comfortable, and environment-friendly public transport facilities.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Muzaffargarh Sports Ground, where Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan and Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education Sardar Ajmal Khan Chandia jointly inaugurated the electric buses.
The event was attended by Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Division Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry, RPO D.G. Khan Sajjad Hussain, Deputy Commissioner Muzaffargarh Usman Tahir Jappa, and DPO Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah, along with MNA Rana Abdul Manan Sajid and MPA Aun Hameed Dogar.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said that in the first phase, citizens of Muzaffargarh have been gifted 12 electric buses operating on four routes across the city. He said the initiative reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to providing modern and sustainable transport facilities to the people.
He added that the fare for the electric buses has been fixed at Rs. 20, while students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities will travel free of cost.
The minister further said that the buses are equipped with air-conditioning, CCTV cameras, and mobile charging ports to ensure safety and comfort for passengers.
Bilal Akbar Khan noted that electric buses will also be extended to suburban areas of Muzaffargarh in the next phase, promoting green mobility and reducing environmental pollution.
He said the Green Electric Bus Project is part of the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to modernize Punjab’s public transport system and make it accessible, affordable, and environment-friendly for all citizens.
