RAWALPINDI, Oct 09 (APP):Pakistan Post stands as the nation’s sole institution delivering services to every corner, bridging villages and cities while diminishing the rural-urban divide. The tireless efforts by the employees of Pakistan Post have culminated from the traditional postal system to a more vibrant, time effective and digitalized network of connectivity.
This was remarked by Postmaster General Northern Punjab, Faisal Tahseen during his address at a flag-hoisting ceremony, marking World Post Day at the Rawalpindi General Post Office (GPO), on Thursday.
Faisal Tahseen, being the chief guest of the event, raised the Universal Postal Union (UPU) flag, and underscored the postal service’s vital role. The event drew prominent writer and poet Dr. Ravish Nadeem, along with Deputy Postmaster General (Admin) Zakirullah, Chief Postmaster Asma Noreen and other officials.
He said that Pakistan Post has expanded operations to include Sundays at all GPOs, urging the public to maximize these conveniences. He highlighted ongoing digitalization initiatives aimed at extending modern amenities, such as e-commerce, to its customers nationwide.
Deputy PMG (Operations) Farhan Ali Mirza recited a message from the UPU Director General, Masahiko Metoki, outlining strategies to bolster postal involvement in e-commerce, foster digital and financial inclusion, and accelerate the shift to green energy.
A message by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was read out on the occasion, in which he praised the global network of 4.6 million postal workers who unite nations and communities.
“This day reminds us that when individuals work together, their impact can be truly global,” Guterres said.
Zymal Fatima, a student from a private school who clinched third place in an international letter-writing contest, received her award.
Moreover, an exhibition of commemorative stamps drew enthusiastic crowds, including schoolchildren. Also, a quiz competition was conducted at the end of the program. Prizes and gifts were distributed to young participants.
