LAHORE, Jul 15 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that the government is taking a revolutionary step for empowering the youth.
An international certification program for freelancers has been launched in Punjab to enhance global employability. Additionally, an EdTech and Matriculation pilot project has been initiated in government schools, while internship programs have been rolled out across all government departments, including agriculture and environment.
In her message on World Youth Skills Day, the CM emphasized the critical importance of equipping youth with practical skills alongside formal education. She said, “Times have changed, acquiring skills along with education is now the need of the hour. In today’s world, it is not just degrees, but skills that hold the real power to transform the future of nations. Skills are not merely a means of employment, they are a source of self-confidence, national progress, and prosperity.”
The CM said in the modern era, proficiency in practical skills is key to development. “Our youth are being trained in IT skills, which are among the most powerful tools for success today.” The Nawaz Sharif IT City will not only offer a platform for innovation but also strengthen the capabilities of the youth. Institutions like TEVTA are providing demand-driven training to ensure young people are equipped with skills aligned with contemporary needs, she added.
She said, “It is my firm resolve that every young individual should be equipped with at least one valuable skill to earn a dignified livelihood. Skills lead not only to employment but also to respect and self-reliance. My vision is to see the youth of Punjab not just seeking jobs, but also creating opportunities for others.”
The Punjab government is fully committed to empowering the youth, whether in freelancing, entrepreneurship, or any other sector, so they can thrive in all walks of life, she remarked.
