RAWALPINDI, Oct 31 (APP):The Punjab Home Department has issued a notification for the court trials of 11 May 09-related cases against the former chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including the GHQ attack case, citing security concerns according to which instead of conducting the trials in jail, the former chairman will be presented in court via video link. Meanwhile, the special Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi has scheduled the hearing for the GHQ attack case on November 05.
According to the notification under Sections 15(2) and 21(2)(b) of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, the trials for 11 cases will now take place in the Anti-Terrorism Court Rawalpindi, including the GHQ gate attack case registered at RA Bazaar police station.
These cases to comply with the notification include FIR No. 981 at Civil Lines police station, FIR No. 563 at City police station, FIR No. 914 at Waris Khan police station, FIR No. 2106 at New Town police station, FIR No. 397 at Morgah police station, FIR No. 2076 at Sadiqabad police station, FIR No. 940 at Taxila police station, FIR No. 744 at Sadar Wah police station, FIR No. 836 at Cantt police station and FIR No. 948 at Sadar Wah police station.
The former PTI chairman, named as an accused in these cases, will appear in court from Adyala Jail via video link.
Notifications have been sent to the Anti-Terrorism Court, the Superintendent of Adyala Jail, the Deputy Commissioner, the City Police Officer (CPO), and other relevant authorities, along with instructions for the accused’s virtual appearance and security arrangements.
Subsequently, the court has set November 05 as the date for the GHQ attack case hearing, where the former chairman will be presented in the courtroom from Adyala Jail through video link.
