QUETTA, Oct 17 (APP):Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Friday urged all the office bearers and volunteers of the Boy Scouts to expand all their activities to other areas of the province and play their role for the functioning of the association.
He expressed these views while addressing the participants of the oath-taking ceremony of the Boy Scouts Association.
On this occasion, Chief Commissioner Pakistan Boy Scouts Association Amanullah Khan Kanrani, Provincial Member Mir Asim Kurd Gellu, Parliamntary Secretary Barkat Rind, Member Provincial Assembly Zarq Khan Mandokhel and Atta Muhammad Kakar, along with a large number of Boy Scouts and Girls Guides, were present.
Addressing the ceremony, the Governor said that a small sapling of the Scout Movement planted by Robert Baden-Powell and his sister Agnes about 117 years ago has today become a mighty tree with more than 50 million members in 200 countries.
He said that scouting has become a powerful force in shaping young minds and promoting global citizenship, The Scout Movement, through its non-formal education and training, produces such servants who serve all humanity without discrimination.
I, as Chief Scout in the province, want to assure all possible support for the success of the Boy Scouts and Girls Guides movement, he said.
Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel said that the spirit of public service is most effective in any emergency situation. In this regard, there is an urgent need to mobilize the Scouts Association in Balochistan in a new way and expand it to all districts because through scouting we could easily create responsible and service-oriented citizens.
He said that the Scouts movement is actually an educational and social movement that plays an important role in shaping the character of the new generation.
He said that it should be noted that all expectations for a bright future are associated with the youth. He said that Boys Scouts and Girls Guides is not only a movement but it is also an awareness of instilling the spirit of volunteerism in the new generation and establishing a healthy society.
Character building of the youth is currently an important need of the country and the nation. If we are able to properly train the youth of our beloved country and make them useful, efficient and patriotic, it will be a great service, he said.
