LAHORE, Nov 25 (APP):Governor Punjab/Chancellor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan emphasized the pivotal role of education in driving national development, affirming his commitment to enhancing educational quality and research in universities.
Addressing the 48th convocation at the he highlighted the significance of women’s contribution to Pakistan’s progress.
Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that as the Chancellor, he is committed to improving the quality of education and research in universities. The Governor Punjab said, “The women of our country are working shoulder to shoulder with men in all walks of life.”
He said that Maryam Nawaz as the Chief Minister of Punjab, is working hard for the betterment of the province.
He said that in Islamic history, Hazrat Khadija Al-Kubra (RA), Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa (RA) and Hazrat Fatima Zahra (RA) are role models for women.
The Governor said that when Quaid-e-Azam started the struggle for Pakistan, Fatima Jinnah played an important role. He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto fought a long struggle against dictatorship and the restoration of democracy in the country. He further stated that as Chancellor, he is striving for the betterment of the universities and hopes to see tangible improvements in the institutions by the time he concludes his tenure.
The Governor Punjab appreciated the performance of Vice Chancellor UHE Zeb-ul-Nisa Hussain and said that the university has improved a lot in a short time due to her visionary leadership.
He said new programmes have been started in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. It is hoped that the university will get NOC and PhD classes will also start next year.
As many as 27 female students were awarded gold medals for their excellent academic performance and degrees were distributed among 1100 BS Honours and MPhil graduates. Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, along with the Vice Chancellor, distributed medals and degrees among the female students.
