Governor Punjab attends Tent-Pegging competition in Fateh Jang
ATTOCK, Sep 23 (APP):Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan attended a tent-pegging competition in Tehsil Fateh Jang, Attock district, as chief guest on Wednesday.
A large number of local dignitaries, political and social figures, tent-pegging enthusiasts and people from various walks of life attended the event.
The governor appreciated the skill, enthusiasm and outstanding performance of the horse riders participating in the tent-pegging competition.
He said that tent-pegging held a prominent place among the ancient cultural and traditional sports of Punjab, particularly the Potohar region.
He stressed the importance of promoting healthy activities such as sports to protect young people from drugs and other negative activities. Traditional sports, he added, played an important role in encouraging positive activities among the youth.
Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that organizing such competitions could help preserve cultural traditions. He said equestrianism and tent-pegging competitions were an important means of introducing the younger generation to their historical heritage and traditional sports.
He added that sports helped develop courage, skills, discipline and physical agility among young people, while traditional sports also played an important role in preserving local culture and regional traditions.
The Punjab governor congratulated organizer Malik Aqib Khan on the successful organization of the tent-pegging competition.
