PESHAWAR, Oct 26 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday said that women are the strong pillars of society, and their health and well-being guarantee a progressive and enlightened nation. “When women are healthy, the whole society becomes healthy,” he remarked.
He expressed these views while addressing a breast cancer awareness seminar as chief guest at the Governor’s House Peshawar.
The event was attended by Professor Dr. Muqaddas Ali Khan, Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent (Merged Areas) Farzand Ali Wazir, medical experts, women health professionals, and social figures in large numbers.
Dr. Muqaddas Ali Khan highlighted the importance of organizing such seminars and thanked the Governor for hosting the awareness session at the Governor’s House.
Medical experts including Dr. Iman Sohail, Dr. Mumtaz Ali Marwat, Dr. Rabika Bakhtiar, Dr. Faiza Rehman, Dr. Syed Muhammad Sultan, Dr. Syed Ghulam Ghous, Dr. Irfanul Islam Nasir, and Dr. Syed Asif Shah spoke about the causes, treatment, prevention, and awareness of breast cancer.
In his address, Governor Kundi said that the seminar was not merely an event but a “movement” aimed at promoting women’s health, awareness, and empowerment.
He emphasized that awareness efforts should not be limited to the month of October but continued throughout the year.
He lauded the organizers for holding the seminar on such an important subject and said that Pakistan remains among the countries where breast cancer is a leading cause of death among women.
Governor Kundi urged educated women to play their role in spreading awareness among women in rural areas about breast cancer and its early detection.
He assured that the Governor’s House would continue to fully support all positive initiatives related to women’s health and awareness.
The Governor also paid tribute to Asifa Bhutto Zardari, praising her as a leading figure in the national breast cancer awareness campaign.
“Under her leadership, this campaign is creating confidence and consciousness among women. I want all women of society to join Asifa Bhutto Zardari in this noble mission,” he said.
At the end of the ceremony, Governor Kundi distributed shields among the speakers.
