DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 05 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday said that while PTI leaders talk about negotiations, the party’s founder is pushing the country towards instability.
Addressing a press conference here at his residence, Kundi Model Farm, he stressed that political issues can only be resolved through dialogue, but talks cannot be held on preconditions.
The governor said that even the prime minister has expressed willingness to engage in talks with PTI. However, he maintained that meaningful negotiations require seriousness and responsibility from all sides.
Governor Kundi said that Afghan nationals were found to be involved in attacks on the Police Training School (PTC) in Dera Ismail Khan and FC Headquarters in Peshawar. He said the repatriation of Afghan nationals is a firm government decision, adding that Afghans are welcome to return legally by obtaining proper visas for business or employment. He reiterated that the government’s stance on illegal immigrants is final.
Commenting on inter-provincial matters, the governor said that the recent visit of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to Punjab was wrongly portrayed by both sides. He added that during the chief minister’s visit to Sindh, the Sindh Chief Minister offered security arrangements, and the Sindh government remains in contact with the KP government to ensure no unrest occurs during the visit. He expressed confidence that the KP chief minister would uphold the dignity of his office.
Governor Kundi said the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is deteriorating and there is a need for an operation to restore peace. He praised the KP Police, particularly Dera Police, for their sacrifices, stating that security forces have rendered exemplary services for peace in the province. He clarified that although the constitution provides the option of governor’s rule, there is currently no possibility of imposing it in the province.
He said that the provincial government is ready to engage with the federation on issues concerning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Expressing gratitude to the Sindh government and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he announced the approval of establishing a Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) hospital in Dera Ismail Khan. The land for the project will be finalized in consultation with the provincial government, and once completed, the hospital will provide quality healthcare facilities to the people of Dera on the model of Sindh.
The governor further said that following his meeting with the prime minister, a Danish School has been approved for Dera Ismail Khan to promote modern education. The school will also be established after the allocation of suitable land. He also announced that the Dera Ismail Khan International Airport project has completed its initial technical stages and will soon be approved by the board, after which it will be formally inaugurated.
On utilities, Governor Kundi said that the Managing Director of Gas has assured that there will be no gas load-shedding in Dera Ismail Khan. He added that the government is also in contact with WAPDA to address electricity load-shedding and is taking steps to reduce losses in PESCO.
Referring to the political future, he said that ups and downs are part of politics and expressed confidence that the next government will be formed by the Pakistan Peoples Party, with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari becoming the Prime Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, PPP Divisional President and President District Bar, Sardar Qaizar Khan Miankhel, said that the party is united. He acknowledged that misunderstandings and differences occur within parties but said discussions have been held with dissatisfied colleagues and these issues will soon be resolved. He added that PPP is a mass-based party and has achieved success by contesting and winning seats in Dera Ismail Khan during the elections.
Several PPP leaders, including District President Malik Farhan Afzal Dhap, KP Bar Council member Sardar Hashmat Nawaz Sadozai, Malik Abid Awan, Sardar Adnan Khan Sadozai, and Habibullah Medadkhel, were also present at the press conference.
