SIALKOT, Jun 30 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi visited Daska on Monday to offer condolences to the family that lost several members in the recent Swat River drowning incident.
Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider accompanied him during the visit.
Governor Kundi met with the head of the bereaved family, Dr. Mohsin, and other relatives, expressing heartfelt sorrow and solidarity over the tragic loss.
“I have come here to share grief on behalf of myself and the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he told media representatives.
Kundi criticized the provincial government’s response, saying, “The Chief Minister and the KP government showed sheer incompetence in dealing with the Swat incident. The entire province is grieving.”
He emphasized that the tragedy was not just a personal loss for the family but a collective trauma for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“We stand with the affected family in their time of sorrow,” he said, paying tribute to their resilience.
Kundi held the KP Chief Minister directly responsible for the mishandling of the situation and demanded his immediate resignation.
“It is the core duty of the provincial and district administrations to ensure the safety and support of tourists in such regions,” he added.
The Governor also reiterated his appeal to the prime minister to honor the local youths who saved lives during the tragedy by awarding them civil honors.
He further questioned why riverbank encroachments along the Swat River had not been cleared earlier and under whose authority they were allowed in the first place.
