PESHAWAR, Jan 23 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday lauded the Government of Punjab and Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider for extending timely humanitarian assistance to the affectees of Tirah Valley and Kurram.
The Governor received the relief consignment sent on the instructions of Governor Punjab at Governor House Peshawar. The relief goods were handed over by the Punjab Red Crescent Society (PRCS) to the Red Crescent Society for Merged Districts, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during a ceremony held at the Governor House. Principal Secretary to Governor Zubair Arshad, PRCS Merged Districts representative Imran Wazir, Secretary Shahid Malik, PRCS Punjab Secretary General Mehboob Qadir Shah and Zeeshan Ashfaq were present on the occasion.
The relief package comprises 500 ration packs, each weighing 20 kilograms, containing flour, rice, sugar, ghee and other essential food items. In addition, 1,900 bottles of clean drinking water and medicines for 3,000 patients were also included. The assistance will be distributed among the affectees who were temporarily displaced from Tirah Valley.
Later, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi held a meeting with PRCS Punjab Secretary General Mehboob Qadir Shah at Governor House. On the occasion, the Governor thanked Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider and the Punjab Red Crescent Society for their continued support to the affectees of Tirah and Kurram.
The Governor said the relief sent for 500 families of Tirah TDPs has been handed over to the Red Crescent Society for Merged Districts and assured that the assistance would be delivered to the deserving affectees with transparency. He added that various donors were also contributing to relief efforts and all-out efforts were being made to ensure maximum assistance to the affected people.
Governor Kundi said that the Punjab Red Crescent Society has always stood by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during difficult times, including cloudbursts and floods, and appreciated its humanitarian role.
He expressed gratitude, on behalf of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, merged districts and Tirah, to Governor Punjab and Punjab Red Crescent Society for their solidarity and cooperation.
