QUETTA, Oct 31 (APP): Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Friday directed that the work of academic blocks, male and female hostels and sports facilities under construction at Turbat University should be accelerated so that the students could benefit from them to the fullest.
He expressed these views while presiding over the 9th session of the University of Turbat.
On this occasion, Provincial Secretary Higher Education Saleh Baloch, Principal Secretary to Governor Balochistan Kaleemullah Babar, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hassan, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Representative of the Higher Education Commission Dr. Zahoor Bazai, Director General of the Higher Education Commission Dr. Nasir Shah, Additional Secretary Finance Department Arif Achakzai and Registrar of the University of Turbat Gangozar Baloch were present along with the Senate members.
The Governor said that a distinctive aspect of the Senate meeting of each university is that in addition to advancing the issues and problems of the respective university in the agendas under discussion, intellectual suggestions and constructive critical reviews are also presented by the esteemed members of the Senate.
He said that this unique approach promotes the trend of transparency, accountability and collective wisdom. Thus, it helps in taking many important decisions based on the diverse expertise and experiences of the Senate members.
Governor Mandokhel appreciated the performance of the University of Turbat and said that the efforts of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hassan and his team are commendable, however, there is always room for improvement at the individual or institutional level and we would make further efforts to bring all our government universities at par with the universities of Islamabad and Punjab.
He said that we need to make the salary package attractive keeping in mind our financial constraints, in the light of the new recommendations and suggestions of the participants of the 9th session of Turbat University, several new important decisions were taken.
Finally, Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel distributed commemorative shields among the participants.
