QUETTA, Oct 28 (APP):Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Tuesday directed the Vice Chancellors of varsities to focus on ensuring the attendance of the teaching staff for enhancing standard of higher education to meet expectation of HEC and global level.
He expressed these views while presiding over the 13th Senate meeting of Balochistan University of Information Technology Engineering Management Sciences (BUITEMS) , Quetta, at the Governor House.
On this occasion, Provincial Secretary Higher Education Saleh Baloch, Principal Secretary to Governor Balochistan Kaleemullah Babar, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Mirwais Kasi, Higher Education Commission Representative Engineer Muhammad Raza Chohan and Finance Department Additional Secretary Arif Achakzai, along with Senate members were present.
The Governor issued special directives to all the Vice Chancellors of public sector universities in the province to take concrete practical steps to improve the ranking of their respective universities and increase the scoring to more than 60 percent which would not only enhance the prestige of all our higher educational institutions but also strengthen Pakistan’s higher education reputation at the global level.
He said that we have to make universities meet the expectations of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) according to our standards and benchmarks.
Governor Mandokhel made it clear in two words that the Vice Chancellors would be responsible for improving the overall performance of the universities, increasing the ranking of the university and taking the scoring beyond the set target of sixty percent.
He said that strong measures should be taken to secure the bright future of the students, saying that third-party audit is also necessary to maintain transparency in financial matters and transactions at the university level.
Several new important decisions were taken in the light of the recommendations and suggestions of the participants of the 13th meeting of BUITEMS University
