DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 29 (APP):The Gomal University organized the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign-2025 in collaboration with the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Cancer Hospital, DINAR, under the auspices of the Directorate of Students Affairs and the Faculty of Pharmacy.
The campaign commenced with an awareness walk from the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat to the Abdul Qadeer Khan Auditorium, where an informative seminar was also held.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and Director of DINAR Hospital Dr. Nabeela Javed graced the event as chief guests. The seminar was attended by deans, heads of departments, female faculty members, and a large number of students.
Addressing the seminar, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal said that breast cancer is a life-threatening yet curable disease, and timely diagnosis along with public awareness is essential for prevention.
He emphasized that Gomal University is committed to promoting awareness about women’s health issues and will continue to play an active role in such initiatives.
He added that cancer not only affects patients but also inflicts severe emotional distress on their families; hence, prevention must be prioritized to reduce its impact.
Dr. Nabeela Javed, Director of DINAR Hospital, delivered a detailed lecture on early symptoms, advanced diagnostic techniques, and effective treatments for breast cancer.
She urged upon the women not to hesitate in discussing this health issue and to undergo regular screenings. Highlighting the alarming rise in breast cancer cases, she stressed the need for public-level awareness and encouraged healthcare professionals to spread the message to safeguard women from this deadly disease.
