BAHAWALPUR, Jun 19 (APP):A delegation from SMALLPAK, a German-supported research project, visited the Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CUVAS) to explore avenues for collaboration in research, climate-resilient agriculture, livestock development and the promotion of locally driven innovations in South Punjab.
According to a press release issued here, the delegation held a meeting with CUVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Tariq Javed, during which discussions focused on sustainable agricultural systems for smallholder farmers, climate-smart livestock production, capacity building and joint applied research initiatives.
The meeting also explored opportunities for academic collaboration involving students and faculty members. Both sides agreed that integrating the traditional knowledge and practices of Cholistan’s small-scale farmers with modern scientific research could help develop practical solutions to challenges including climate change, food security and rural employment.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr. Muhammad Tariq Javed said the university was committed to strengthening international partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to farming communities.
“Such collaborations enable us to transform research into practical solutions for our farmers and the broader economy of South Punjab,” he remarked.
He added that CUVAS would continue aligning its research and academic activities with international standards while remaining focused on addressing the region’s specific agricultural and livestock challenges.
The SMALLPAK delegation comprised Dr. Louise Purst and Dr. Mahwish Zuberi.
