SIALKOT, Feb 13 (APP):The Department of Psychology GCWUS on Friday organized an awareness walk to mark a campaign on the Prevention of Violent Extremism,highlighting the role of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping modern social interactions.
The event held in alignment with the United Nations’ theme on digital influence, focused on online gaming spaces and algorithm-driven social media platforms,emphasizing their impact on how individuals access information,form identities and seek belonging.
Vice Chancellor(VC) Shazia Bashir said digital technologies offer transformative opportunities for education and connectivity but warned that their misuse can spread misinformation and extremist ideologies.
She urged strengthening digital literacy,ethical awareness and critical thinking among youth to prevent online radicalization and promote responsible digital citizenship.
During the awareness walk,faculty members and students carried placards promoting digital responsibility,peaceful dialogue and rejection of online hate and extremist narratives.
Participants were encouraged to use social media constructively,fostering inclusivity,tolerance and informed engagement in virtual spaces.
