KARACHI, Oct 23 (APP):The convenor of the organizing committee of retired teachers and staff of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Dr Tauseef Ahmed, has appealed to the federal government to take immediate notice of the ongoing financial crisis at the university, where salaries and pensions have not been paid for several months.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Dr Tauseef said that despite the university possessing funds worth millions of rupees, FUUAST continues to face a severe financial crisis.
He said the Federal Ombudsman and the Information Commission had already issued directives to the university administration to resolve the matter.
The Federal Ombudsman also instructed the FUUAST management to utilize the university’s invested funds to ensure payment to the retired employees. However, despite such directives, the affected staff are still awaiting the release of their dues.
Meanwhile, Senator Jan Muhammad Buledi has written separate letters to the Prime Minister and the President of Pakistan, urging them to take notice of the financial crisis at the Federal Urdu University, Karachi.
