KARACHI, Jun 25 (APP):In a major counter-intelligence breakthrough, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Karachi Police has arrested four operatives allegedly working for the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), SSP SIU Shoaib Memon revealed during a press conference held at the CIA Center on Wednesday.
According to SSP Shoaib Memon, the arrests were made during a joint intelligence-based operation conducted in coordination with intelligence agencies.
The detained suspects were reportedly involved in espionage activities and had been in direct contact with a RAW handler identified as Colonel Ranjit, whom they referred to as their “boss.”
“These individuals were actively gathering sensitive information and images of strategic sites across Karachi, particularly military and security installations, which they then transmitted to RAW,” said Shoaib Memon. The suspects, all of whom were fishermen by profession, had allegedly crossed into India multiple times.
In exchange for their services, they were paid between PKR 100,000 to 150,000 per trip, along with Indian liquor, cigarettes, and other incentives. Police recovered hand grenades, firearms, and a vehicle from the arrested individuals.
Investigators have also secured extensive mobile data from the suspects’ phones. SSP Shoaib Memon stated that the accused had conducted surveillance in sensitive areas of Karachi. He added that further interrogations are ongoing, and additional arrests or revelations may follow.
