MUZAFFARGARH, Jan 07 (APP):At least four people were killed and several others injured when a livestock truck overturned on Jhang Road near the motorway interchange on Wednesday.
According to officials, the accident occurred after the truck’s tie rod broke, disconnecting the steering mechanism from the wheels. The driver subsequently lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.
The deceased were identified as the driver, Ejaz, along with Muhammad Murad, Ansar, and one unidentified individual. The injured included Kashif (37), Nazir Ahmad (55), Ahsan Azam (24), Naqi Riyaz (21), and another unidentified man.
Rescue teams launched a quick relief operation, shifting the bodies and injured to District Headquarters Hospital. The condition of the injured ranged from mild to critical, with medics stating that the next 24 hours would be crucial.
During the accident, around 50 small and large animals inside the truck were reportedly crushed to death. Police reached the scene and initiated medico-legal formalities,while further investigation was underway.
