LAHORE, Feb 21 (APP): Punjab’s Health Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir formally laid the foundation stone of the revamping project of the Maryam Nawaz Mother and Child Health Center at Joray Pull on Saturday.
The objective of this important project is to ensure the provision of modern and quality medical facilities to women and children in the area and to further strengthen the health infrastructure.
A large number of local residents, including former Member of the Punjab Assembly Muhammad Waheed Gul, attended the ceremony and termed the launch of the project as a positive development for the area. Participants appreciated the Punjab government’s practical steps and public welfare initiatives in the health sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that maternal and child health is the government’s top priority, and old health centers are being upgraded according to modern requirements. He said that after upgradation, the center at Joray Pull will be equipped with modern machinery, trained staff, and improved facilities so that residents will not have to travel to distant areas for treatment. He added that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, comprehensive measures are being taken to improve basic health units and mother-and-child centers across the province. Completion of the project, he said, will help reduce maternal and child mortality rates and bring healthcare services closer to the public.
The ministers reiterated their commitment to ensure timely completion of development projects and the provision of transparent, high-quality, and dignified medical facilities. Residents of the area welcomed the initiative, thanked the government, and expressed hope for the project’s early completion.
Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said that the Maryam Nawaz Maternal and Child Health Center, equipped with modern facilities, will be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He emphasized that maternal and child health remains a top priority and that the new center will provide the best treatment facilities for mothers and children. He added that the government is taking serious steps to reduce maternal and child mortality.
He further said that expert gynecologists, pediatricians, and trained staff will be deployed at the center, ensuring that quality medical care for mothers and newborns is available under one roof. Equal access to healthcare for both rural and urban populations is also being ensured. The provincial minister noted that the health system is being further strengthened on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
