Foolproof security arrangements for Muharram in sensitive district DI Khan: DC

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jul 10 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Dera Mansoor Arshad on Wednesday said the foolproof security measures have been taken across the district in order to ensure peace and order during the holy month of Muharram.
In a statement, the deputy commissioner said the foolproof security arrangements were made in Dera Ismail Khan as it is considered as one of the sensitive districts during Muharram.
He said the Pakistan Army would also support district administration and police for peaceful conduct of Muharram. Moreover, he said the holidays of the government officials of all the departments concerned have been cancelled.
He said the entry and exit points of the district have been closed and the security personnel have been deployed there. All the upper floors of the shops on processions’ routes have been evacuated. The police have been ordered to search each person attending the Majalis.
The deputy commissioner said the staffers of all the departments concerned including Rescue 1122, health and others, would remain present in Majalis and processions.
He said that Muharram teaches us the lesson of peace, love and religious harmony.
He said the official meetings were also held with all peace committees’ members and their issues have been resolved.
Besides, he said, the best arrangements were being ensured for mourners at Majalis and procession routes as cleanliness, lightening, electricity generators were arranged there. He said the elements trying to harm peace during Muharram would not be spared under any circumstances.
He said the security measures have been tightened to ensure peace and order during Muharram and Section-144 has also been imposed for the purpose.
The deputy commissioner said that a ban has been imposed on pillion riding during initial eight days of Muharram while the riding motorcycles would be completely banned on 9th and 10th of Muharram.
He said that no stranger would be allowed to stay in hotels or houses on the route of Muharram processions. The cases would be registered against violators, he mentioned.
There will be a complete ban on the display of weapons, while there will be a complete ban on the carrying of guns, knives, knives, sticks, pistols and automatic weapons.
Moreover, he said there will also be a complete ban on wall chalking in public places and use of loudspeakers. The sale of petrol in open bottles has been banned. There will be a complete ban on staying on balconies and roofs to watch the procession on the procession routes.
He said that all available resources were being utilized to ensure peaceful conduct of Muharram.
The deputy commissioner appealed to the people of Dera Ismail Khan to play their role in maintaining peace in the city.
He said the district administration and police would cooperate with all the citizens to maintain law and order and the people should not pay attention to any propaganda.
On the other hand, in order to maintain law and order situation during Muharram, the district police led by District Police Officer Nasir Mahmood, conducted a search and strike operation in the city and its suburbs to maintain law and order situation.
During the operation, various hotels were checked the record register of passenger.
