GUJRAT, Dec 31 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has conducted district-wide food safety inspections to ensure public health.
According to a PFA spokesperson, a total of 105 inspections were carried out during the operation, resulting in the issuance of 27 improvement notices to food business operators.
Fines amounting to Rs125,000 were imposed in nine cases for violations of food safety laws.
The spokesperson said that nine food samples were collected for laboratory analysis, while 2.7 kilograms of substandard and expired food items were confiscated and destroyed.
Deputy Director Rizwan Saeed said inspection activities would continue regularly to safeguard public health, warning that strict action would be taken against those involved in the sale of unhygienic and substandard food.
