Food dept serves show cause notices to nine flour mills over selling flour on high prices in July

MULTAN, Jul 21 (APP):Food department served show cause notices on nine flour mills and suspended one license over selling flour on high prices against rates fixed by the Punjab government during current month of July.
Deputy Director Food, Shahid Khokhar, while talking to APP here on Sunday said that the departmental teams were monitoring flour mills across the division and also imposed Rs 145,000 fine to violators. He added that abundant flour stock was available in the market and strict monitoring was being ensured to provide flour to the citizens on fixed prices.
He informed that the 10 kilograms flour bag price was Rs 820 and Rs 1640 price for 20 kg in Multan district while Rs 780 per 10 kg bag in Lodhran, Vehari and Khanewal districts.
Khokhar added that there were 129 flour mills across the division from which 69 were functional.
DD Food said that he himself besides this food officials including district food controllers (DFCs), AFCs and other staff paying regular visits to flour mills and shops to ensure availability of flour on fixed prices. Food official stated that the flour samples from various flour mills were collected every month regularly to ensure quality of flour.
He added that fumigation of all wheat stock across the division has been completed and all SOPs were being followed to keep the wheat stock safe from rains. He informed that 471145.938 metric ton wheat stock was present across the division.
