CHINIOT, Jul 09 (APP):On the orders of DG Punjab Food Authority, Muhammad Asim Javed, the food safety teams launched a full-scale crackdown against the adulteration mafia in the district .
Milk was tested using a lactoscan machine and 6400 liters of milk in 50 trucks were
checked.
Deputy Director Operations Dr. Muhammad Qasim Raza said that the quantity of milk was increased by mixing ice and water. More than 120 liters of adulterated milk were destroyed, while a fine of Rs 18,000 was imposed on the poor quality of milk.
The food safety teams raided several milk shops and milk collection centers.
Due to poor cleaning and storage arrangements and the absence of medical screening certificates of workers, the food points were fined Rs 35,000, while a grocery store was fined Rs 25,000 for failing a ghee sample as per the laboratory analysis report. During the inspection, more than 4 kg of expired products and more than half a kg of open color were destroyed.
