FJWU Organizes 3rd Phase of Student Support Services Integrated Activities

RAWALPINDI, Oct 29 (APP):Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance; T.I.), successfully organized the 3rd Phase of Student Support Services Integrated Activities as part of the Cascading Plan of Higher Education System Strengthening Activities (HESSA) Component C – Student Support Services.
The event was a collaborative initiative of HESSA Component Leads–Student Support Services, the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), the Office of Student Affairs, and the SDGs Research & Resource Centre. It was specifically designed for first-semester students to introduce them to FJWU’s student support ecosystem, promoting awareness, engagement, and well-being. The program also connected students to Career Connect initiatives, encouraging them to shape their professional journeys through interaction with mentors and industry experts.
 The opening session was led by Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director QEC & Institutional Lead who outlined the objectives of the initiative and the transformative role of HESSA in enhancing FJWU’s student support systems.
Ms. Naseem Akhtar, Registrar, presented an overview of key university policies and student services, including grievance and discipline procedures, Radio VoW, hostel and transport facilities, the library and examination systems, sports and gym facilities, the ITC, and the Business Incubation Centre (BIC).
Representatives from QEC, Nosheen Naz (Deputy Director) and Shagufta Nasreen (Assistant Registrar), explained the significance of student feedback in quality assurance, curriculum improvement, and service enhancement. Dr. Iram Gul, Director Student Affairs, introduced the Student Council for Academic Learning & Enhancement (SCALE)—a platform under HEC’s PSG-2023 framework that empowers students to participate in institutional decision-making and governance.
To promote a sense of joy and connection, Dr. Nadeem Fakhar (Department of Computer Science) engaged the audience with a light-hearted stand-up comedy session. A panel on leadership and student programming, led by Dr. Shaheen Begum, Associate Professor and former Director Student Affairs, along with focal persons from 12 FJWU societies and clubs, emphasized teamwork, volunteerism, and effective student engagement.
Humera Sadia, Placement Coordinator, guided students on career readiness, resume writing, interview preparation, skill development, and FJWU’s internship policy. Dr. Sajida Naz, Chairperson Behavioral Sciences, conducted an interactive session on mental health awareness, stress management, and prosocial behavior, while also introducing the Counselling & Wellness Centre and Medical Centre facilities.
Asia Mehreen, Financial Aid Office, provided information on various scholarship and financial aid opportunities, including eligibility, documentation, and application procedures.
A vibrant pop-up market promoted student entrepreneurship, featuring stalls from student societies and external partners such as FES, Askari Bank, First Women Bank Ltd., and the Ministry of Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, recap, and certificate distribution, marking another milestone in empowering student engagement and excellence at FJWU.
