FJWU, HSA to empower women through nursing education

RAWALPINDI, Jul 10 (APP):Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi, has achieved a significant milestone by signing a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Health Services Academy (HSA), Islamabad, to launch a transformative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.

The LoI was signed by Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza, Vice Chancellor, FJWU, (PoP, T.I.) and Prof. Dr. Junaid Sarfraz Khan Rector, HSA in Islamabad on July 4, 2025. This strategic partnership aims to empower women by expanding their leadership in nursing and health sciences and strengthening public health education and research in Pakistan, said a news release on Thursday.

The proposed BSN program will feature a fully equipped skills laboratory, clinical training and hospital rotations, teaching resources, and digital learning tools, ensuring compliance with Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) standards.

Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza emphasized FJWU’s commitment to contributing to national development through education, research, and innovation, particularly by empowering women in health and public service sectors. Prof. Dr. Junaid Sarfraz Khan highlighted the importance of academic collaborations in building inclusive and future-ready health systems.
Prof. Dr. Hashaam Akhtar (HSA) and Prof. Dr. Azra Yasmin (Director Campus II, FJWU) played pivotal roles as focal persons, facilitating the planning and operationalization of this collaborative initiative.
This partnership marks a significant step towards transforming nursing education in Pakistan, expanding access for women, and supporting the country’s journey towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
