Five kilns sealed for pollution

KHANEWAL, Oct 14 (APP):Five brick kilns in Khanewal have been sealed as part of the ongoing anti-smog enforcement drive conducted by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD).
The action was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Director (Environment) Engineer Sarfraz Anjum, with Environmental Inspector Muhammad Amjad leading the Anti-Smog Squad. The sealed kilns were found violating mandatory Zig-Zag technology requirements, resulting in a total fine of Rs 400,000. Additionally, a case has been registered against one kiln owner for breaching smog control regulations.
In a related move, an industrial unit was also sealed after its boiler was identified as a source of smog, and a penalty of Rs 300,000 was imposed on the management. The Anti-Smog Squad continues to conduct daily inspections of brick kilns and industrial units across Khanewal district, taking strict legal action against those responsible for air pollution and smog formation.
