First snowfall blankets Galiyat as traffic police, GDA ensure safety of tourists

NATHIGALI, Jan 01 (APP):The first snowfall of the season blanketed the Galiyat region on New Year’s night and continued until morning, marking the true onset of winter in the area as temperatures dropped significantly.
Nathiagali received approximately eight inches of snowfall, while Changlagali recorded around one foot of snow, bringing a picturesque view along with challenges for traffic and mobility.
Under the supervision of SSP Traffic Abbottabad Qamar Hayat Khan, the Traffic Police Abbottabad made special arrangements across Galiyat to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety and convenience of tourists and local residents.
Traffic police officers and personnel were deployed round the clock at various locations to manage traffic, prevent congestion, reduce the risk of accidents, and provide immediate assistance in case of any emergency. The personnel also guided tourists about alternative routes, designated parking areas, and precautionary measures in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
In line with the good governance guidelines issued by the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) also took timely measures to facilitate residents and tourists. Heavy machinery was deployed on town roads to clear snow promptly and maintain smooth traffic flow. GDA control rooms were made fully operational and remain active to assist tourists in case of any emergency or difficulty.
GDA staff is available at the control rooms 24/7 to provide guidance and support. Tourists have been advised to follow the precautionary measures issued by the GDA, stay updated with weather forecasts, and exercise extra caution while traveling to the Galiyat region during the winter season.
