PESHAWAR, Jan 02 (APP):Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested two suspects in hawala and hundi case.
On the directions of the Director General FIA, operations against individuals involved in Hawala/Hundi are ongoing and actions are being taken by the FIA Commercial Banking Circle Peshawar and Composite Circle Abbottabad.
According to FIA authorities, the arrested suspects include Sheer Nawaz and Ajmeer Shah held from the saddar area of Peshawar and Battagram.
From the possession of suspect Ajmeer Shah, 2,500 Saudi Riyals and 16.7 million rupees were recovered.
Whereas from the possession of suspect Sheer Nawaz, 374,000 rupees were recovered.
Mobile phones and evidence related to Hawala/Hundi were also recovered from the arrested suspects.
The suspects failed to satisfactorily explain the source of the recovered currency to the authorities.
An investigation has been initiated and raids are being conducted to arrest other accomplices of the suspects.
